Instagram Carousel Tips

Carousels are powerful for photographers. Here's how to use them effectively:

  1. First image is key: Make it attention-grabbing
  2. Tell a story: Show before/after, BTS, or a series
  3. Mix formats: Combine photos with text slides
  4. End with CTA: Last slide should prompt action
Photographer tip: Share a carousel of 5-10 images from a session. Include a mix of poses, crops, and maybe one behind-the-scenes shot. Carousels get 3x more engagement than single images!

Hashtag Strategies

Instagram

  • Use 20-30 relevant hashtags
  • Mix popular (#photography) with niche (#seattleheadshotphotographer)
  • Create a saved list of your go-to hashtags
  • Place hashtags in first comment or after line breaks

TikTok

  • 3-5 hashtags is optimal
  • Include trending hashtags when relevant
  • Always use #photography and your niche

LinkedIn

  • 3-5 professional hashtags
  • Use industry-specific tags (#headshots, #corporatephotography)
  • Include location tags for local reach

Troubleshooting

Post failed to publish

Common causes:

  • Connection expired: Reconnect the platform
  • Content rejected: Check platform guidelines (size, format, etc.)
  • Rate limited: Wait and try again later
  • Account issue: Check your social account is in good standing

Image quality looks poor

  • Upload highest quality images possible
  • Avoid heavy compression before upload
  • Match platform's recommended dimensions

Wrong time zone

  1. Go to Settings in your dashboard
  2. Update your time zone
  3. All future scheduled posts will use the new time zone
