Content Recycling

Your best posts deserve more than one appearance. Content Recycling automatically reposts them on a schedule you set — with alternate captions so it doesn't read as repetition.

$5/month add-on. Requires an active Social Scheduler subscription. Add it from the Pricing page or Settings.

Why recycle?

Most of your audience never saw your last post. Platforms show a given post to a fraction of your followers, and new people follow you every week who've never seen your best work.

For photographers this matters more than for most: a portfolio image is just as good six months from now. Recycling puts your strongest work back in front of people without you having to remember to do it.

Two ways to set it up

1. From the Auto-Repost panel (easiest)

Your dashboard Overview has an Auto-Repost section showing past posts worth resurfacing — each with its thumbnail, caption, when it went out, and which platforms it hit.

Each tile gives you three choices:

Button What it does
Repost Turns on recycling with the default schedule — every 2 months
Reschedule Posts it again once, manually, with the caption and platforms pre-filled
Not now Dismisses the suggestion

Once recycling is on, the tile shows Reposting active with a Stop button.

2. When creating a post

To choose your own schedule rather than the default, set it up as you create the post:

  1. Create a post as usual in Posts & Scheduling
  2. Find the Content Recycling section
  3. Switch on Enable auto-repost for this post
  4. Set how often it should repeat, and when it should stop
Don't see the section? It appears only if you have the add-on and your post targets a supported platform. YouTube and TikTok aren't supported — if those are your only two selections, the section stays hidden.

Settings

Repost every

Pick a number and a unit — anywhere from 1 to 52 weeks or months. The default is every 2 months.

Content Variations

Optional alternate captions. Each time the post recycles it moves to the next one in your list, then loops back to the start.

This is worth filling in. Platforms can flag identical repeated content, and your regular followers notice word-for-word repeats. Two or three variations is usually plenty.

Writing variations: lead differently each time rather than rewording the same sentence. One version opens with the client's reaction, another with a lighting detail, another with a question. Same photo, genuinely different post.
Keep them short enough for every platform you're posting to. A variation written for LinkedIn's 3,000 characters won't fit X/Twitter's 280. Write to the tightest limit among your selected platforms — see File Size & Posting Limits.

If a variation is too long for one of your platforms, nothing breaks and nothing gets cut off — that platform simply keeps the original caption for that round, and the platforms it does fit get the variation. Reddit always keeps its original caption.

Stop after

  • No limit — keeps recycling indefinitely (the default)
  • After N reposts — stops at a count you set, up to 100

Which platforms work?

Every platform StudioFlows supports except YouTube and TikTok.

How it runs

StudioFlows checks once a day for posts due to recycle and publishes them at the scheduled time. There's nothing to trigger manually.

If a repost can't go out for any reason, the system waits for the next cycle rather than retrying immediately — it's built to skip rather than risk posting twice.

Seeing your recycled posts

Recycled posts appear in Posts & Scheduling alongside everything else. If they clutter your view, use the Hide recycled posts toggle to filter them out.

Common Questions

Can I turn recycling off after it's started?

Yes. Find the post in the Auto-Repost panel on your Overview and click Stop. Reposts already published stay up; no future ones are created.

Will it post at the same time of day?

Yes, recycled posts keep the original post's time. Note that across daylight saving changes the local time can shift by an hour.

Does recycling change the photo?

No. The same media is reposted — only the caption changes, and only if you've added variations.

What should I recycle?

Evergreen work: portfolio highlights, testimonials, and posts that explain what you do. Skip anything time-bound — seasonal promos, event announcements, "booking for next week."
